This thread discusses the Content article: SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY - ASHLAND

This is a great college with a small, intimate campus. I attended classes there a few years ago and just loved it. Class size is small and the professors are great. They have a mixed group of students too with a number of older students who are back to finish their degree.

It sounds like this is a small school, which can be a bonus. When you were attending what was the average class size? Were you able to contact your profs if you needed to and how helpful were they?

I was attending in 1995-6. The class size was very small in most cases, about 20 to a class. There were a few that were larger but that was the average. Professors were very assessible. Most went by their first names too which I really appreciated. I'd recommend the school to anyone, plus Ashland is just a beautiful place to live.

I haven't been to Ashland, but I've been to Portland and surrounding areas and thought it was a really beautiful place to live.

20 students per class is awesome! You really wouldn't find that amount of students in a class in a high school! We had 30-40 kids per class in high school. I think that's really great because the last time I went to college was in 1999, so having a small class size is important to me.

This does sound like it is an awesome plus; 20 students per class. You normally don't see that except in a community college. Even then sometimes they can be big; depending on where the college is located. The personalized help that students get I am sure will help them in their college career.

Yes, it was great having classes that small. I had a couple classes there that were under ten people and you really get a lot of individual attention that way. They also have some classes that the professor sets a limit on enrollment just to keep them smaller. I took a couple honors writing classes that were 15 maximum enrollment.
