It is essential that the finance you choose to fund further education is right for you. If you make the wrong choice this will add more pressure to you, and maybe take your focus of education.

If "private" means banks or another third party, this is dangerous. There are many government initiatives which should be your first port of call.

I agree with Uni Man's sentiments entirely. I know people who have taken out private loans to fund their education and ended up paying off debts for the first 5 years of their working lives.

I would think that if you are planning to get a student loan that you would considered the loan programs offered by the financial aid office of the University you are going to attend. I would only consider private loans if I could not qualify for federal student loans which have much lower interest rates.
